8 HOUR SOLO & Relay 24 HOUR SOlo & RELAY
COURSE INFORMATION
The course consists of a 3.5 mile “long” loop (which you will run most of the day) and a 1 mile “short” loop (which you will run the last 45 minutes of the race). The loops are not uber technical, though there are some sections with roots, rocks, horse poo, and rabid squirrels, so you better pick up your feet. This IS a trail race you know. Honestly, this is a really tough course. People got beat down on it. But when we asked if we should make it easier, everyone said “NO!”. You’ll love it.
Runners will use the 3.5 mile “long” loop for the entire race except the last 45 minutes. For the last 45 minutes the “long” loop will be closed and runners will start the “short” loop. Once 45 minutes is left on the clock, runners will not be allowed to start another “long” loop. If you have already started the “long” loop before the clock shows 45 minutes remaining, you can continue on that course. The loop will count toward your total mileage as long as you finish before the time limit is up.
The loops are primarily single track with a lot of rolling hills especially on the last half. There are no water crossings; however, depending on the weather leading up to the race, there could be some muddy spots.
Start/Finish area is located at the Prairie Lane Shelter. There is plenty of grass to set up shop with your camp chair, gear and cooler. Pit toilets are available at the Start/Finish area.
There will be an aid station at the start finish area stocked with typical race food (PB&J sandwiches, chips, pretzels, cookies, M&M’s , and more), soda, water and sport drink. We’ll have some hot food through the night too.
We may put another unmanned water station about halfway through the course if it’s really hot.
