Adam Zimmermann and Mike Klopfenstein met in training for the Farmdale Trail Run 33 miler in 2007.  They ran the race again the next year, then became Co-Race Directors of Farmdale in 2009 after Dave Tapp decided to step down.  After their first successful attempt at race directing, they decided to add another Ultra to the Central Illinois trail scene.  Adam’s home course is Jubilee State Park, so it was a natural fit for the second race.  As co-founders of IL CRUD (Clydesdales Running Ultra Distances), they decided to name the race after their informal club as a tribute to their trail kinsmen (and kinswomen).
