8 HOUR SOLO & Relay 24 HOUR SOlo & RELAY
Get some of your running buddies and make your own team. This relay is for 2-4 person teams who will take turns on the trail to bag some serious mileage.
The 24 hour race will start at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012. The 8 hour race will start at 8:00 a.m on Saturday, May 19, 2012. Both races will finish at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday May 19, 2012.
Relay members will follow the 3.5 mile “long” course and complete as many full loops as they can before 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 19. At 3:15 the “long” course will close at which time a 1 mile “short” loop will be opened. For the last 45 minutes, relay teams will select one team member to run as many “short” loops as possible until the 8 or 24 hours is complete. Relay teams will NOT be allowed to exchange runners during the short loops.
The following rules will be enforced:
-Only one team member is allowed on the course at a time.
-Team members can run in any order and the order does not have to stay the same.
-Co-Ed teams must have at least 2 females complete a 3.5 mile “long” loop to be considered a part of the the Co-Ed category.
-Transitions must take place in the designated area at the start/finish line. There will be a course monitor at the start/finish to help ensure proper transitions.
-Runners must cross the timing mat at the end of each loop.
-Failure to transition in the designated area and/or cross timing mat will result in loss of completed lap.
-Each team member will have their own chip. This will allow us to keep track of your individual mileage as well as nullify the need to “pass the baton” at each transition.
-Honesty is expected and any attempt at dishonesty will result in your teams disqualification.
-Teams must select ONE team member to run the 1 mile “short” loops. Exchanges will not be allowed once the team has started running on the 1 mile “short” course. So make it count and pick the runner who’s got something in the tank!
-Only full loops count. No partial loops will be counted!
**Team members can run as much, or as little, as they want before transitioning. You could one run lap and “tag” the next runner,
or you could run ten laps before you “tag” out.
The strategory is up to your team.**
Runners must complete FULL loops for the loop to count.
The 8 and 24 Hour Relays will have four categories: Male, Female, and Co-Ed. The 8 Hour Relay will also have a Military/Firefighter/Law Enforcement category.
Military teams must consist entirely of active, inactive, retired military and veterans. Co-Ed teams must have a minimum of two women. Firefighter/Law Enforcement teams must consist entirely of firefighters and/or law enforcement officers.
Your team can celebrate together at the post race party. Post race activities will start right after the race with great food and drink to refuel. Awards will follow shortly after the race is finished.
